The Nissan Titan is comparable in size and capability to pickup trucks from the Chevy, Dodge, and Ford for 2007, and it has what some buyers might find appealing: a streamlined model lineup. All Titans have a powerful 5.6L V8 engine with 317 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs of torque; a flex-fuel version is also available at no additional charge, allowing it to run on E85, which is 85 percent renewable ethanol. A five-speed automatic is the only transmission offered.
The transmission comes with special tow/haul modes and heavy-duty Dana axles good for towing or off-roading; and the Titan can tow up to 9,500 pounds when properly equipped.
All Titan models are available with either rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel-drive system, which has shift-on-the-fly capability, a low range, and an electronically controlled part-time 4WD mode. There's also a switch-on-demand, electronically controlled locking rear differential with the system.
